It all began with a favorite book. What makes a book a favorite?
Kurt Heymann says: When you love to pass it on. And so, in 1928, he founded his first bookstore in Hamburg-Eppendorf. With a collection full of favorite books and a tireless passion for reading.
Nothing has changed for us in that regard to this day. We’ve just added a few more favorite books. In our favorite bookstores in, around, and for Hamburg.

At the City-Center location, Heymann offers you a traditional bookstore experience that’s right in step with the times, along with a spacious, inviting atmosphere where you’ll feel right at home. Here you’ll find books worth reading, unusual titles, or simply “just” exciting novels. Informative travel guides as well as books for leisure, school, and work, alongside a large selection of children’s and young adult literature—and, of course, hand-picked special offers. Our youngest readers can look forward to an inviting play area where they can turn things upside down. Heymann also offers writing supplies and stationery.
